OK, now that I have your attention, let's proceed. Lisa really came through in this episode. She shined in all the action scenes, as always. Now you can see what I have been talking about in regard to the power she has in the dramatic scenes.
------------------
You wouldn't ever get any argument from me on that! :-)
------------------
The "interview" she had with Augur's sister was wonderful.
------------------
Was Marie Augur's sister? I missed that. When was it indicated? Its quite obvious that they are close, but I didn't hear anywhere that she's his sister.
------------------
The art gallery scene had me on my feet yelling for joy! Lisa has the acting craft down. It is not just the action. *I* can teach anyone who can dance to do standing kicks and deliver punches and strikes. It is NOT the lines. "Woody" can say his lines. By the way, this was one of his best too.
------------------
Hmm... as for Woody, I guess he was alright in this episode. But he's still not growing on me.
------------------
You mean like a fungus?
------------------
It is the non verbal thing that an actor does that sets them apart from the mediocre crowd. Want an example? Take Billy Mummy in Babylon 5. I have often said, "That man can say MORE with his eyebrows and a sidelong glance that the rest of the cast in 5 minutes of strait dialog. And these are GOOD actors." Lisa has this too. Auger says, "I go to great lengths to posses what I am passionate about." Lisa's "look" went from disgust to intrigue, to complemented. Then she turned her eyes toward him, and the expression went to titillation. I had this on tape. I clocked it a just under three seconds! THAT'S ACTING! Good work, Lisa.
-----------------
You clocked it? Wow! I taped it and rewatched that scene, yes, Lisa was awesome!!!
-----------------
Well, OK. Not with a stop watch. I counted my heartbeats. And my heart was beating kind of fast.
-----------------
The Taelons claim to have given humans psychic power. Psychic power predates the Egyptians. Next, they will claim to have raised us from the monkeys. Right. Sure. Sounds like a real estate deal to me.
----------------
I don't know anything about Psychic power. What little I know, plus what's in this episode, Psychics can read people's mind, right?
----------------
It is not just reading minds. They don't do that well at all. That's telepathy. It more like sensing the "color" or "taste" of a mind. Sensing the future (clairvoyance) is another aspect.
---------------
Then what's the Taelon's 'commonality?' The dictionary said 'commonality' means 'a sharing as of common features or characteristics.' Does that also meanthe Taelons can read each other's minds? If so, then how can Da'an be talking to Boone like he's been. Especially at the end of the episode when he told Boone not to let the Synod know that Ma'el had given psychic power to humans. They are really too lax in all these secretive talks at the Taelon's HQ (or was that Da'an's office or something) I mean Boone and Lili had done it in previous episode, now Boone and Da'an. Which also brings me to my quesion of how did Ma'el give humans that gift? I might be way off here, but I am anxious to see what you folks think about this.
---------------
The commonality must be a mistranslation. So much for Taelon superiority. They share certain aspects of each other. It is not just mental. They share each other on a life force level. Roddenberry said that he foresaw humans evolving into a different form. He said that this form would be primarily energy and that we would lose some of the separateness that we now have. He even went so far as to speculate about group beings. Gestalts, collectives, and the like. (He was pretty tired that night and we could forgive him wandering around in his mind.)
I think that his fascination with this could explain some of the things that he created. From Star Trek (TNG), think of the Binars, and even the Borg. Gene seemed to be saying that we are all "connected" to each other now, and that if we shed the physical body for an energy one that we could be even more connected.
---------------
What a fantastic episode! I hadn't thought about the possibility of human psychics being able to tap into the Taelon Commonality (actually, this was the first time I heard them use the term 'Commonality')
--------------
Now that they have killed off Katya Petrenko, I wonder if they'll deal with this whole psychic issues in future episodes.
--------------
I am getting to enjoy the interaction between Da'an and Zo'or. My hubby get such a kick out of Zo'or. He's waiting to see Zo'or get his butt kicked. For Zo'or to order Katya's death and forbade Sandoval to tell Da'an about it, I am expecting to see conflict between Zo'or and Da'an in future episodes. Now, that brings me back to the question of whether the Taelons can read each other's minds.
--------------
Of course, the best parts were the scenes with Augur
--------------
YES!!!! I think my eyes popped out of my head!
--------------
Did you see how Lili looked at him when she asked him to run a check on Ms. Petrenko(?), and how he looked back at her! Sparks a'flyin'!
--------------
LOL! Those were the exact words I said to my hubby when I watched that scene!!
--------------
YES, and the way those two always talk to each other inches from each other's face!
--------------
Then when he took her to meet Marie, and she could read all that about her relationship with her father and brother! Awesome!
--------------
Finally, we get to learn a bit more about Lili's background! I wonder what happened between Lili and her father.
--------------
And why does Lili blame herself for allowing it to happen? She is NOT justified in that! How much guilt comes from our trying to "fix" something between other people and failing in the attempt? She is not responsible and I don't even know what it is.
--------------
And to top it ALL off: the scene where he shows her his art collection: When he says he says he goes to great lengths for whatever he's passionate about...right in Lili's ear!! I literally fell out of my chair!!
--------------
Oh, most definitely. This was wonderful!! More! More!
--------------
We gonna be seein' some serious lip action soon!
--------------
And why not? Somebody should be kissing something. Boone is kissing his CVI memories, and Sandoval is kissing..... (Just remembered Goddenport! Better shut up before I get flamed but GOOD!)
Doors can go kiss sandpaper for all I care!
--------------
They are building up their relationship slowly, it really makes you want to come back for more. Its obvious, but its not. I mean, are they really getting somewhere? Seems like it could go either way.
--------------
You know, Auger had better be careful when he's with Lili. You never know when a telepath might be around.
I wonder, if we could somehow listen in on his Lili thoughts, what we'd hear? Whoa!
--------------
The one thing I was thinking when Lili and Augur went to that lady psychics house was, man, Augur's head must be really cold!
So the Taelon's gave us psychic ability? For what purpose, so we *could* tap into the Commonality? In the flashbacks when they were transferring what's her names mind to Boones, it looked like she must have lived before, had another life and that first Taelon looks exactly like Da'an. So there's two issues going here, 1. Taelons gave us psychic ability, and 2. We live more than one life.
---------------
Next week looks to be an even better Lilli episode than this one.
---------------
Yes, I can't wait to see next week's episode.
