Oooooohhhh! The plot does thicken, doesn't it? I have a great many questions regarding this episode!
So now, Sandoval's CVI finally disintegrated, allowing his human side to resurface. He went back to the sanitarium where his wife and "other clients" were institutionalized, and spirited her away. Her medication wears off and she's a normal human again. Okay, I got that part.
Sandoval then seeks out the Resistance in order to give her safe haven,
and finds Boone, who proceeds to TELL HIM ALL ABOUT HOW HE WORKS FOR THE RESISTANCE!!!!!! I shouted out loud: "Bad move! BAD MOVE!!!"
------------------
My thoughts, too.
------------------
Yes, I thought that was a very bad move as well. But then, how else will Boone be able to convince Sandoval to trust him?
------------------
Where they lost me was when they decided that the only way to save Sandoval
was by re-implanting him with a fully-functioning CVI! Are they NUTS?!? After
telling Sandoval EVERYTHING about the Resistance?!?
------------------
Boone is a double agent. A mole. Boone "tricked" Sandoval into surrendering
by telling a "lie" about being in the resistance. Sandoval and wife are taken to some secluded space and left there. Sandoval thinks that he has been betrayed by Boone and that Boone is actually working for the Taelons. He looses consciousness under that assumption. Double agents are like weather vanes. They twist and turn to fit whichever way the wind is blowing. Boone is even more dangerous than a double agent. Boone is pro Earth, whatever he believes suits Earth. If the resistance is best, so be it. If the Taelons have the answer, that might be OK too.
------------------
Okay, I get your point. BUT, I still think for someone in Boone's position, he reveal himself way too easily. Even in previous episode, I kept thinking, Boone and Lili can easily be *found out!* Like Boone talking in Da'an's office as if no one can hear him. Having Augur work on his computer in his office. But revealing himself to Sandoval really tops it!
Your idea that Boone is a double again add a new twist to this whole thing.
It never occur to me that Boone might not be totally devoted to the
Resistance. I don't know. On the other hand, he was close to Da'an. Except
that did you all noticed that Da'an was a bit different in Sandoval's Run and wasn't as nice and easy as he was towards Boone? Seems like we're seeing a different side of Da'an. I like it, in a way, it make sense.
------------------
The bit where Boone tells Sandoval that he (Boone) killed his (Sandoval's)
wife in the same way the he (Sandoval) killed his (Boone's) really set my brain
a'swivelling!! Especially the scene with Boone and Sandoval at the end!
------------------
This is a redoubling of the double cross! But note this: Sandoval was SORRY
that Boone had killed his wife! So much for the loss of feeling. Does Sandoval have a modified CVI like Boone's? Did Bellmann foul up and implant the WRONG implant?
------------------
Sandoval clearly *knows* that Doors is the Resistance, but does he remember
that Boone works for Doors? Was it also revealed to him that Lili works for
the Resistance as well? I can't quite remember that. In the tag scene,
Sandoval said something about he can't reveal the truth about why the
Taelons are here (from the added knowledge in his CVI) to Doors and his
people because we need the Taelons as much as they need us. So this means
that Sandoval *knows* about the Resistance and most likely Boone's
involvement? How can it be busy as usual? What now?
------------------
So now I'm totally bewildered and befuddled as to where things stand!
Now that Sandoval is, once again, a loyal Taelon implant, what is he going to do with his knowledge of Boone and the Resistance?!?
------------------
I am with you, bewildered and befuddled is right!
-------------------
I think that some footage must be on the cutting room floor from this ep.
It is not well explained that Sandoval feels betrayed by Boone. That Boone
recovered Sandoval for the Taelons is what Sandoval believes. The "favor" of "killing" the wife is an extra twist of the knife as far as Ron is concerned. Ron is wearing the wedding ring on his right hand as a pinkie ring. Gold can't be that valuable.
-----------------
Yeah, the ring adds to the confusion for me!
I assumed that they took Sandoval from the resistance HQ where he passed
out in that room back to the Taelon Lab/Hospital/whatever for his new CVI.
I wonder what Boone put in his report or what he told Da'an the sequence of
event was. How and where did he find Sandoval?
Da'an seem so ready to dispose of Sandoval in fear that he might reveal his
knowledge about the Taelons, he sure seems so easily ready to take him back. Just like that! Doesn't he wonder if Sandoval had revealed anything to Boone?
Now I must add. Lisa looked GREAT and did a GREAT job in this episode. Notice that scene where she was giving Dee Dee her new identity? Boy, she looked terrrific! I guess I *am* getting used to her haircut.
I also have to add that Von Flores did an excellent job in this episode!
Made Boone looked really bad! Its so obvious, seeing Kilner and Flores in
scenes together, Flores was clearly so good and Kilner was clearly so stiff.
------------------
I'm about to pass out just thinking about it!
Of course, maybe that's because I haven't had breakfast yet! Important Health
Tip: Never write reviews of complex science fiction stories on an empty stomach.
------------------
Go and eat. This episode was food for thought indeed. Will Ron be more like
Boone in the future? Wow!
------------------
This show is like an onion, the more you peel away, the more layers you find.
-------------------
Lisa is looking better and better. LH did a fantastic job in this episode.
-------------------
Over all a great episode! I found it very intriguing and very much as good as my other fave Roddenberry production (ST:TNG). Anyway! It was great to see the human side of Sandoval and to see him interact with his wife. I thought their scenes played very well. I was also glad to see they rescued her from the asylum. Boone was as wooden as ever and I *know* KK is a better actor than that! He could do so much better.
I thought this was a fairly smart episode. I tend to disagree with the majority on the point of Boone revealing he works for the Resistance. I thought it was the *perfect* psychological device. Hear me out here, just think about it....Sandoval will never probably actually remember he was there and if he does he will probably think that it is, excuse the pun here, all in his head. LOL The revealing of the Resistance had a purpose, they rescued Mrs. Sandy and they saved Sandoval. Plus I think for some reason it killed some of the doubts Sandoval had about Boone. I didnt explain that very well did I?
On the subject of his wifes wedding ring...it is an old tradition for widowers to wear their wifes wedding ring on the opposite hand. It is also tradition for a woman or a guy to switch their wedding ring to their right hand when they become widowed. Sorry as one of the historians of the group I pay attention to stuff like that. I thought that it was sweet that they paid attention to this detail. To me it showed his humanity.
My last and best point! The subject of Lisa...I am thinking that they so need to kill off Boone (or better yet do a Sandoval and put him in the asylum) and make Lili the main character! hehehehehe. I liked Lili's attitude when she offered to be kidnapped. It is great to see a strong woman character on tv. Go Lili!
Lisa was great in this episode. She is doing a great job! Keep up the great work Lisa!
----------------------
Okay, I read the summary of our comments on Sandy's Run, including the
comments about how stupid it was to have Boone tell Sandy he was part of the resistance. I thought it was perfect for the situation. Sandy and Boone both knew at that point that the only thing that would get Sandy to listen and do what Boone said was for Boone to give Sandy the one thing he wanted more than anything...which was a way out. I might be mistaking the dialogue, but something was said about Boone being a good hostage negotiator, and the way to get someone to do what you want was to tell them what they want to hear. How better to get Sandy to go with him than to claim he was part of the resistance, which Sandy thought was his only way out? The fact that Boone was telling the truth might have gone right over Sandy's head. Sandy might just have thought Boone was making this all up in order to get Sandy back to the Taelons (and the CVI thing)....and the fake-out concerning the "death" of Mrs. Sandy would be enough for Sandy to think Boone was a treacherous SOB...therefore, a good liar.
