~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm absolutely speechless! I honestly don't know where to begin! This episode really showed just how complex the Taelons are as a whole.
-----------------------
I really like this episode! Incredible!
-----------------------
Seeing the actual Taelon language in its pure form was ASTOUNDING! I mean, just to conceive of that! I have to wonder though, what's going to happen when the Taelons analyze the data from the probe, now that they have it back?
-----------------------
Hmm... somehow I don't think the scarecrow belongs to the Taelons. Remember what Lili said that if the Taelons had gotten those earlier transmission, they would have learned about the resistance. It just might belongs to *another* alien species. Or another faction of the Taelons? Didn't Da'an told Sandoval that this probe was not Taelon technology? I don't think he was lying. You've got a very good point, now that the Taelons have the probe, are they going to learn about the resistance??
-----------------------
When Da'an and Sandoval met up with Boone where the scarecrow was, and Da'an asked Sandoval for that *thing* that he brought along. My hubby said "the lid." I just cracked up!
------------------------
And what about Doors? When Lili tells him that he's not the absolute ruler of the Resistance and he says, "Who's going to stop me?" Is there trouble stirring within the ranks?
------------------------
I definitely see conflict there! This makes me think that Doors can be very dangerous. I really can't stand Doors, he gets on my nerve. He was that way with Boone and Augur too. I can't remember the exact lines, but he just kept telling them they were wrong.
------------------------
I thought the final scene was very chilling.
------------------------
No kidding!
------------------------
Doors was prepared to sacrifice everything by blowing the HQ facility up. Lili was angry about that and said she and the others should have been advised first. She said they all have a stake in the outcome; they all have a say. Doors said he paid for everything; he is SOLE authority -- he has the only say. Then he looks right at Lili and says:
"Who's going to stop me, Captain -- YOU?"
------------------------
I really want to know more about the organizational structure of the Resistance and its history and how Lili fit into it. Didn't Lili told Doors that he wasn't their commander and that they're accountable (can't remember the exact word she used) to each other?
Argh!! I want to know more about Lili!!!! And I am getting to dislike Doors more and more!
-----------------------
Man, did you see the look on her face?
-----------------------
Sure did!!! Lisa was awesome! I thought its really something when Lili so calmingly sat down and told Doors it wasn't his decision to make, to blow up the HQ. Man, Lili is so COOL!!!
-----------------------
She's been very loyal up until now, but maybe she needs to reassess her situation.
-----------------------
I somehow always saw conflict between Lili and Doors. This just brought it all to the service! This is really getting interesting.
-----------------------
I had thought that Lili and Doors were pretty close.
-----------------------
Most people seem to think so, that Lili and Doors were close, at least up until "Scarecrow Returns." But I on the other hand had always saw tension between them.
-----------------------
She was there at the beginning when Doors faked his death. Now after this, it seems like Doors is starting to become power hungry, maybe even a little psycotic.
-----------------------
I say psycotic!
-----------------------
I think the man is just on a psychotic power trip. Did anybody else want to see Lili smack him? I wanted to see her haul off and hit him like she did the guy who stole her shuttle.
-----------------------
I wonder if at some point there's going to be a falling out and a total distruption of the Resistance organization.
-----------------------
I would guess there would be. Actually, I look forward to seeing that. I think it'll be very interesting.
-----------------------
I think it would be too. In any group you are always gonna have tension. Look at the resistance group in V. They hardly ever agreed on anything other than the fact that they had to destroy the lizzards.
----------------------
I think Boone and Lili is developing a very comfortable and believable working relationship. (if only its a different actor playing Boone!) I think everyone did a great job in this episode.
----------------------
I wonder if Mr. Wooden Statue will get any better with time?
----------------------
Yes, I think so too. I liked this episode a lot better than "Live Free or Die."
------------------------
I do too. Live Free or Die really isn't my type of show.
------------------------
I didn't really like this episode. I have no idea why. It just didn't "feel" right for some reason. I did like Live Free or Die though.
-----------------------
What's with Sandoval's hair? (hi Goddenport )
------------------------
I noticed Sandoval's cool new haircut, y'all! It looks good!
-----------------------
I think Von is doing a great job. As always, I think Leni Parker is doing a great job as Da'an.
------------------------
Okay, I have to ask, is this person a man or a woman? Very interesting that the first name is something that could go either way. The thing I've noticed the most on Da'an is those gorgeous eyelashes. Usually for some reason guys always get the good eyelashes.
------------------------
Not in this case. Leni is female. There's an article on Leni/Da'an in the current issue of Starlog.
------------------------
I like Leni as Da'an. Maybe it is because I know Da'an is being played by a woman but I get the sense tha Da'an is more female. It is just the impression I get. And while I am on the subject of she/he/it for some reason I see them setting up Da'an as a pawn. Hear me out. I think she (i am gonna call Da'an a she) is a feeling caring Companion.
I don't see her being like the rest of her kind. I think they have already established that she is different and the rest of her kind are a little um.. let me think of a good word....uncaring toward humans. I don't see her betraying the Taelons, but I do see her wanting to make a difference. Anyway those just some random thoughts...
-----------------------
I liked Da'an and Sandoval's conversation in the shuttle. And Lisa was amazing, she's doing better and better and looking better and better! Good to see Augur, during the entire episode, I kept hoping to see some interaction between Lili and Augur, but there was none. :-(
-----------------------
I'm having a problem with Lili being a Marine. I think her character could have worked just as well if she was maybe the private pilot for Doors International. The tie in for her to the Resistance and learning the Talon technology to fly their ship would have been more practical since Doors International was originally or still is on appearances working with the Talons. How or why out of all the Marine pilots available would they choose Lili?
----------------------
Good question. And why isn't Lili an implant? You'd think the Taelons would've insisted on that.
-----------------------
Plus her character could have been more on a learning curve with the audience. She would have been our personal link, the ordinary citizen caught up in the Resistance and learning her lessons through the hard knocks school.
-----------------------
Good point. Maybe the military insisted on this with the Taelons. Maybe Lili was 'given' to the Taelons by the military in exchange for some Tealon technology.
-----------------------
As a Marine, the audience can't forgive minor glitches in her fighting skills or judgement, but as a regular citizen, we could watch her grow and perfect her skills and learn from her mistakes. I guess Boone is supposed to do this. (Not that Lili has had any glitches).
------------------------
Very good point and you have raised some very good questions! I sure hope that in future episodes we'll get to see why, of all the Marine pilots, Lili got chosen to be the first to fly the Taelon shuttle and even helped with some of the designs.
------------------------
I would like to see that too. I mean we know how Boone got involved but why Lili and why does she feel so strongly?
------------------------
"Scarecrow Returns" and "Live Free or Die" have me pumped! I LOVE this show!
I think that I have the answer to "Returns". No one else seems to have commented on this yet, but I may have missed it in this mornings deluge. Ponder the following:
Da'an said that this was not from the Taelons. Not the technology, the device itself.
Upon hearing about the transmissions and the device, Da'an left the room to get something. I thought, "Oh. How cute. The Companion needs a suitcase for traveling."
As they were walking down the long tunnels, Da'an kept the "suitcase" out in front. "Not a suitcase. A scanner maybe.", I thought. Da'an keeps getting information from Sandoval as to direction and distance. "A Taelon shield then, perhaps."
When they reach the device, Da'an uses the "thing" as a lid for the device, AND IT FITS PERFECTLY. Da'an did not make a lid out of parts kit or stuff lying around the tunnels as would have been the case with Star Trek's Scott, LaForge, or O'Brien. Da'an HAD the lid THE WHOLE TIME!
Not from the Taelons. OK, that maybe true. Scares the pee out of the Taelons, certainly. Taelon language and technology that is at least compatible.
----------------
Hmmm, could this alien race have visited Taelon long ago??? Maybe it was through them that the Taelons developed some of their knowledge.
----------------
So much for the "evidence", now for the theory!
THESE Taelons are violating their version of The Prime Directive! This group {the synod} came from some larger structure. The device was to "study", "investigate", "categorize". Not "join", "communicate with", or "bond with". That serial killer said that the Taelons were "afraid". Like a child afraid of being found out after stealing the keys to the family car and joyriding all night!
-------------------
BTW on another subject. Lili's hair. I am about to reveal my human side. I watched the first episode for two reasons, I like good Sci-fi, and Roddenberry has written some good Sci-fi. I gave the show a chance. It is a great show. I fell in love with Lili's hair. HAIR.
------------------
Anyone notice when Sandoval is away from Da'an he says Dan (or someone has even said Dawn), but when he's speaking within Da'an's earshot he says it correctly? I then questioned his loyalty to Da'an and that brought up some specualtions about this weeks upcoming episode whether or Sandoval will join the Resistance.
I can't see this. I don't think that the Resistance will let it happen. IMHO, Sandoval is too devoted (not necessarily loyal) to Da'an to do this, nor do I think the Resistance would trust Sandoval enough with their secret no matter what. Even if he is dying.
------------------
This episode kept me on the edge of my seat every single minute! I can't wait to see Sandoval's Run!
